On a hot summer day, في يوم صيفيّ حار

Despite all you did say,وبالرغم من كلّ ما قلته

I couldn’t resist you لم أستطع مقاومتك

When the moment was due. عندما حانت اللحظة

A kiss and an embrace قبلة فعناق

Heated my heart and face. ألهبا قلبي ووجهي

Was it painful the act, كل كان ذلك مؤلمًا

Or so pleasant, in fact? أم لطيفًا

Between heaven and earth, بين الأرض والسماء

We flew with joy and mirth, حلّقنا بفرح ومرح

Forgetting for a while نسينا لوقت ما

The world’s frustrating style. الاحباط الذي يسببه العالم

A moment’s fierce passion شغف لحظة عنيف

Defied its loathsome fashion-تحدّى اسلوبه المقيت

Hatred, greed and racism كراهية, عنصريّة طمع

As well as extremism. وتطرّف

A moment of graving لحظة اشتياق

That we’ve been saving كبتت لوقت طويل

For a very long time,جاءت أخيرًا

Finally came, most sublime.سامية جدًا

No more hesitation, لا تردّد

Despair or frustration, ولا يأس ولا إحباط

No more fear or regret, لا خوف ولا ندم

Accusation or threat.ولا تهديد ولا اتهام

Far away from the noise,بعيدًا عن الضجيج

We had a moment of poise,كان لنا لحظة سلام

Before we had to yieldقبل أن نستسلم

To passion’s sword and shield.لسيف الشغف وترسه
